If you have enough squad members you could use the huge library of player made multiplayer missions I suppose.
The waiting room 'Hyperlobby' is all but dead and apart from a few Russian servers running outside that like 'Vinnipuh' that is it. I'm not sure what there is to do in it online anymore and that's is coming from someone who spent nearly a decade flying it in a squad and loved it. Ohhhh - it's totally just for right hand people(throttle got buttons on right side to be operated by thumb and stick got a shelf for your hand to rest a bit when crusing - also just on right side) - so if' you're lefty - i think i could be a bit of a problem.ġ600 is for both hands - a lot of buttons on both side. It feels plasticky a bit at the beginning but it's nice afterwards. Honestly - if you can get that one cheap? - Go for it. Where at this point's is 0% throttle but you can have reverse thrust. I think it probably built for like space crafts. However, a friend of mine uses relative throttle with the same joy(weird, right?) - and he says this is the point he moves the throttle to stay at some specific value. It has middle point - at which it sticks and you need to apply some force to move it further - it's 50% of throttle in WT so not much of an issue anyway.

So both of them can be used for the same purpose, BUT (on PC, doesn't work on PS4 i think) you can have them as 2 separate axes - not very helpful in WT you could think - but that means there's no yaw movement when using just ailrons(if only the one on rocker controls the yaw).Īnd that's the only not great element of it (for me). Throttle - 8 buttons in total, rocker that can be used to control yaw.
If you fly bomber and have to switch places (do thing you don't do in fighters) it may be not enough. Honestly i use keyboard only for MEC(if i need to), typing messages in chat and switching on the engine.

Plus all the options in WT allow to set it exactly as you want itAlthough i have spent months for it due to bad habits of the old joystick) Hotas has a spring and you can actually set how stiff it has to be. I also read that people recommend 1600 due to a different technology it's built with (sensors) and it it more precise - however i also read that many of them have problem at the central point (floating issue). Well, i got hotas x as well and have to say it's pretty good. So my question is is: has anyone here played IL-2 1946 with the mouse-joystick mod? How does it compare to War Thunder's mouse-joystick option? If possible I'd like to have controls seamlessly transfer over between the two games when I eventually get IL2, or at least be pretty similar so I can at least do the sorts of things I like doing in flight sims: lawnmowing, bombing, and bomber killing.

Then I did a little googling and apparently a fan of the IL2 series has made a mouse-joystick mod for the game (not hacking or anything, literally just mapping joystick control functions to the mouse movement).
War Thunder Sim Air may be pretty broken but one major good aspect of it is the mouse-joystick control option. Thing is, I'm the stereotypical broke college student with no time for a job of any kind if I'm to keep up with my homework. Hence after talking with my squadron they're starting to turn me onto the older but far more polished IL-2 1946 Flight Sim. The DM buff has killed most aircraft for me save for a few Turn-&-Burn planes that can keep their guns on target well, leaving only Tank RB/occasional Sim as the only remaining fun parts of the game. The grind has gotten out of control and the devs have said NOTHING helpful about it. Constant buffing and nerfing of various game elements (including the damage model buff to all aircraft and hardened ground units) invalidates the point of even bothering to talisman vehicles in most cases. I've always enjoyed bombers and strafers but in all modes they feel next to worthless or stupidly overpowered with no middle ground. I've been curious about trying a more serious flight sim because, long story short, while War Thunder is still fun the major issues are not getting fixed in the modes of the game I enjoy.
